Well-Deserved Win
Notre Dame Prep's competitive cheer team took home the sixth state champion trophy for the first time since 2018. The team was undefeated in the regular season, scoring high at all invitationals by large majority.
Prep stayed consistent in keeping their lead from the very first round at 235.60 points, a whole 1.90 points ahead of trailing Grose Ile, into their second round obtaining 228.42 marks. The all-season pick Notre Dame Prep finished the competition with a healthy 784.22 points ahead of the game.
Notre Dame Prep remained steadfast into the third round gaining a lead of 2.60 points with the aid of seniors: Ava Aiello, Catalina Ballesty, Mikayla Bidawid, Grace Kinkade, Leila Mains, Paige Marlinga, and Gabrielle Phillips.
A Coaching Dream
Notre Dame Prep Second-Year head coach Jocelyn Welsh, guides team to a marvelous competition season. Welsh has spent 5 career years as a varsity cheer coach including 3 years as Assistant Varsity Coach at Rochester Adams High School, assisting Brooke Miller. The new coach led Notre Dame Prep to a state runner-up just in her first year as head coach. She demonstrates a realism, that NDP can compete at heightened levels.
Throughout the season, Welsh was assisted by assistant coaches: Alivia Tate, Kellie Brisson, Lexi Vesprini, and Brooke Miller. The team was physically supported and trained by Notre Dame Prep Certified Athletic Trainer Chris Polsinelli, AT, ATC; and Certified Strength and Conditioning Coach Christian Polega, RSCC, CSCS.
